THE LYDDEN VALLEY RESEARCH GROUP
The Lydden Valley Research Group was formed in 2004 to study and promote research into the low-lying coastal area situated between Deal and Sandwich Bay in Kent.
The Group consists of geologists, ecologists, archaeologists and local historians.
September 2006 marked the publication of the Group's first report 'The Geology, Archaeology & History of Lydden Valley & Sandwich Bay'.
The report aims to:
- To raise awareness and stimulate interest in the heritage of Lydden Valley and Sandwich Bay.
- To promote further study of the area by academics, community groups and schools.
- To provide information for educational purposes and present the heritage of Lydden Valley and Sandwich Bay to visitors of East Kent.
- To contribute to the recreational planning for East Kent and promote the area's heritage and tourism strategy.
